Callaway X-22 Individual Iron (Lob Wedge)

The goal of Callaway’s X-Series irons has always been lofty: to set the performance standard for the industry. Now Callaway does it again with the X-22 irons, the best X-Series irons the company has ever made. Callaway’s X-22 irons are dialed in for maximum performance, with such features as Precision Notch Weighting, VFT Technology, a Modified Tru-Bore design, and a tour-inspired head shape. It’s no wonder that the X-22 irons won a gold medal in the “game improvement irons” category from Golf Digest’s 2009 Hot List. As one tester said of the X-22s: “I could hit these blindfolded. Sign me up right now.” Currently sitting in tour player Rocco Mediate’s bag, the X-22s received five stars in three of the four Hot List categories. The X-22s are the heirs of the unbelievably successful X-20 irons, which were used by Mediate as well as Senior U.S. Open Champion Eduardo Romero and LPGA winner Leta Lindley. Callaway’s X-22 irons are dialed in for maximum performance and serious forgiveness.Callaway Golf Technologies The X-22 irons are outfitted with several core technologies, including both relatively new innovations and technologies that have stood the test of time. Callaway maximized the perimeter weighting of the X-22s to create a moment of inertia (MOI) that’s 10 percent higher than earlier versions, giving you more leeway on off-center strikes. This boosts the club’s overall forgiveness and stability, while still maintaining the center-of-gravity position that produces an ideal trajectory and feel. The X-22s VFT Technology, meanwhile, maximizes ball speed and perimeter weighting to create even more distance and forgiveness. And a crucial improvement comes in the form of the S2H2 design, a patented technology that shortens the length of the hosel, allowing the weight to be moved lower and to the more useful perimeter area of the clubhead. Add in a 360-Degree Undercut Channel–which maximizes perimeter weighting by moving the center of gravity even lower a (more…)

Callaway X Forged Vintage Wedge (Mack Daddy with C-Grind)

Legendary clubmaker Roger Cleveland raises the bar once again with the Callaway X-Forged wedges. Designed with input from Tour players, the X-Forged wedges are made from soft 1020 carbon steel, which allows for exceptional touch and feel around the greens. The clubs also feature a tight heel-toe radius and a C Grind sole, adding versatility to your shot making on a variety of turf conditions. And golfers will love the aggressively sized Mack Daddy grooves, which are designed with maximum depth and width to create Tour-level spin, trajectory, and distance control. (The Mack Daddy grooves are available on select 56- through 64-degree models.) The X-Forged wedges offer 12 total loft/bounce combinations–ranging from 48 to 64 degrees–giving you ample opportunity to find a wedge that suits your swing and turf conditions. These particular wedges also boast a new gunmetal vintage finish (Callaway sells X-Forged wedges in a new white chrome finish as well). (more…)

Callaway FT Individual Iron (Lob Wedge)

Callaway FT Individual Iron (Lob Wedge)

Callaway’s most technologically advanced irons, the FT line delivers the utmost in performance and playability, making the irons ideal for mid to low handicap players who demand the latest innovations and proven results. Each FT iron features a new head shape, with a thinner top line, a higher toe, and slightly less offset than other irons to produce a more traditional look. More significantly, the heads are also extremely stable thanks to the Extreme Notch Weighting, which redistributes weight to the low, rearward area of the club in the toe and heel to create a high moment of inertia (MOI). This improves your distance and accuracy on mis-hits at the heel and toe, making it easier to approach the green. And golfers will love the lightweight hot titanium face, which produces faster ball speeds and an increased effective hitting area. Callaway’s high-performance FT irons are ideal for mid to low handicap players.Callaway’s Fusion Technology The FT irons are the latest evolution of Fusion Technology, a multi-material process that gives Callaway Golf engineers the utmost freedom of design. Fusion Technology follows a philosophy called Complete Inertial Design (CID), in which Callaway engineers considered all of the club’s characteristics collectively and created a design that balances those characteristics while optimizing performance. The key to CID is to avoid focusing on one characteristic at the expense of the club’s overall performance. One major element of CID, for example, is to increase the stability of the clubhead, which is measured in terms of MOI. By raising the MOI on both the vertical and horizontal axes, and by positioning the weight to the perimeter of the clubhead, Callaway engineers were able to add stability to balls struck around the edges of the clubface. And because the clubhead rotates less during these swings, golfers lose less ball speed–helping the ball travel longer distances–and the ball goes straighter on off-center hits. (more…)

The original objective was to create a unique wood head design that would provide superior performance at excellent value to the golfer. A team of UK based professionals, including PGA European Tour Director and player DJ Russell, was recruited to thoroughly test prototypes. After a considerable length of time, a wood head was found that showed significantly improved results from all other prototypes and clubs from would-be competitors at the time. From the development of the original wood, HiPPO has continued to push the boundaries of technology with product development teams based both in the UK and US headquarters working continually on new ideas. The brand is now extended across a full range of equipment from award-winning irons to golf bags and accessories, all offering unbeatable performance at exceptional value.
